Cafe IFAL with John Heywood  New date & time

24th October 2023, 17.30 - 19.00 ( UTC +1)

This Café IFAL,  led by John Heywood, is an invitation to explore how we personally think and feel about the environmental threats we face and to ask ourselves what we (as coaches, action learners and communities of practice) can do, and what is already being done.

In the spirit of action learning, we are hoping we can learn with and from each other.

A recent Stanford University survey found that about half of 16–25-year-olds experience daily eco-anxiety. In countries on the front line of climate change, this figure rises to 80%. Furthermore, Deloitte’s 2020 survey of millennials and Gen Z show their top 2 concerns are the climate and protecting the environment, and these concerns affect the organisations they wish to work for.

Given the above, it is reasonable to assume that over the next few years, as these young people enter the workplace, the contribution they make will be influenced by the eco-anxiety they feel.

John believes that if our work as action learners, coaches, and mentors is about facilitating personal and organisational effectiveness, then we must pay attention to these existential concerns.

John Heywood is an AC Accredited Professional Executive Coach, ILM Endorsed Action Learning Facilitator, & ILM 7 Accredited Coaching Supervisor. He holds a Masters Degree in environmental science.
