CAFE IFAL

The Café IFAL virtual discussion forum is a place where Action Learning practitioners can share their experiences of using Action Learning in real situations. Everyone who comes along is encouraged to contribute to the debate in an informal ‘café’ atmosphere. The purpose of the forum is to join together to create, develop, and support communities of Action Learning practitioners around the world, and to learn and share with each other.

The format of this virtual event includes a brief presentation of a particular piece of Action Learning practice, followed by open discussion where we share related experience and create opportunities to learn with and from each other.

Sessions last 90 minutes and take place on the Zoom platform.

Numbers are limited to 15 people.  Costs are £10 for members and £20 for non-members.  All fees go towards hosting further events.

Review of our last Café IFAL on 30 March 2020 with Fiona Scrase

The recent Café IFAL drew practitioners from five countries on four continents. Fiona Scrase lead the discussion to explore, from the Action Learning facilitator’s perspective, the temptation that exists to get drawn into the content of a presented challenge and thereby risk neglecting the powerful individual and group learning – how we are working together - that is such a critical part of Action Learning.

Fiona’s questions then helped us to explore the value and benefit of conscientiously reviewing set process, capturing learning, and making that learning explicit - how we, and others, are in a group as well as what we and others do in the group.

Thank you Fiona for guiding such a stimulating and productive Café IFAL discussion.

Further details of our next session will be coming soon.

We have a few places left in our UK-based action learning set and in ours Amercias set.  We have also had one request from a member based in New Zealand.  If you are interested in joining any of these sets please do get in touch.  We would love to start them all in the (northern hemisphere) autumn.  Enquire here and John Heywood of our Executive Committee will be in touch.

The offer is:

Set 1 will be open to set members from Canada, the US, Mexico, and Central and South America (within approximately 3 hours of Toronto).

Sets 2 & 3 will be open to members from the UK, Europe, and Africa (within approximately 3 hours of GMT).

There is also an option to create an additional French-speaking group if there is a demand.

Il existe une option pour créer un groupe francophone s’il y a une demande. Merci de me contacter si ça vous intéresse. Vous n'avez besoin d'aucune expérience d’action learning.
